FAQs

Yes.

The chainstay length change occurs in the front triangles- we vary the pivot locations fore and aft to achieve the different lengths while using single size chainstays and seatstays. So no- you cannot get the chainstay length of the small on your size large, for instance.

These bikes are designed specifically to use mixed wheels. We do not recommend a 27.5 front wheel for geometry reasons.

UL 2849: Yes, the Bullit is certified to the UL 2849 requirements, ensuring high electrical safety. EN 15194: Our ebikes meet the EN 15194 requirements, with adjustments made for the regional market.

An MX bike will definitely handle differently than a full 27.5 bike. The main difference you'll feel is a more stable and confident front end. The turning will be a bit slower than a 27.5, but the payoff is a more secure feeling in corners and more traction. Due to the taller front axle height and improved roll-over of the large wheel, your chances of stuffing the front wheel or going over the bars is vastly diminished. Use this security to ride challenging terrain with a more aggressive and dynamic body position.

The frame is designed for a post mount 200mm rear rotor and can fit up to a 220mm rear rotor.

The Bullit geometry is optimized for a 44mm fork offset.

29" bikes provide a ton of front wheel grip- this is partially due to the front wheel itself, but also due to the axle height of the rear wheel which works to keep the front end weighted. This creates a natural position on lower-angle terrain but requires body position and/or setup adjustments to achieve any sort of rearward bias.

On an MX bike, the bias is more rearward. This gives a very natural feeling on steep descents, but requires some body position and setup consideration for a balanced feel on flatter terrain. Compared to a 29er, a slightly lower handlebar and a more forward-biased suspension setup will make an MX bike feel more like what you're used to. Additionally, using the Hi BB setting will lend itself to a more front biased feel. Using these tuning parameters will help you find the sweet spot for your terrain and preference.

You'll know you have it dialed when it feels like you're never making large body weight shifts to either lift the front end or keep it stuck to the ground.

Mixed wheels provide the stability and traction of a 29" front wheel with the agility of a 27.5" rear wheel. The smaller rear wheel and its comparatively lower axle height allows the rider to more easily unweight the front wheel- this makes for confident yet agile handling on the steepest of descents. Additionally, on ebikes specifically, the motorized drive unit does a good job propelling the rear wheel through rough terrain, without hanging up or losing momentum.

There is no throttle. The Bullit is pedal assist only. In North America, this is a class 1 ebike.

In North America, the Bullit will have a pedal assisted max speed of 20mph/32kph.
For Europe, and majority of the world, the pedal assisted max speed is 25kph.

All Bosch drive units use the ISIS BB spindle standard. Bullit ships with 155mm crank arms. The 2025 Bosch Performance CX gen 5 drive unit, used on the Bullit, has a slightly wider BB spindle than the previous generation and therefore needs crank arms with different offset.

Yes, it is called the Bosch "Flow" app and is available for Apple and Android.

All Bullit models use a 55mm chain line. The chainring spider, and direct mount chain rings, used in conjunction with the Bosch Performance CX gen 5 drive unit are offset to maintain a 55mm chain line measurement.

The Bosch Flow app connects to the bike via Bluetooth and allows you to record your ride. It will show the percentage of battery remaining and a range estimation. It is also possible to change the assist modes and digitally "lock" the bike.

No, your bike is pre-programmed and ready to ride straight from the factory.

Unfortunately, Bosch systems are not compatible with cycling computers at this time. If you want to record your ride, the best way to do that is use the Bosch Flow app.

Bosch firmware updates can be installed either via the Bosch Flow app, or at your local Santa Cruz Bicycles dealer.

Yes, the Bosch Performance CX generation 5 drive unit is part of the Bosch Smart system, as well as all of the other Bosch ebike components on the Bullit.

The Bosch battery on the Bullit is designed to be charged while inside the frame, and only removed for service. There is a barttery charge port conveniently located on the outside of the down tube.

While this would be possible, it is not recommended since the motor will not reach full power or full torque on the range extender alone.

Yes you can, you will need lights with the Bosch style power cord and a dealer can help get them installed.

It is recomended that if you plan a ride with the range extender, the range extender is plugged in and being used from the point the ride begins.

This is not recomended since the main battery and PowerMore range extender will be used at the same rate. If the main battery is very low and the range extender is changed out for a fresh one, the bike will still work, but the DU will not be able to draw enough current from the fresh range extender to reach full power.

This is the "Cable Wrangler" it is designed to be installed under the range extender mount to take up the slack in the cable when using the PowerMore.

The forward set is for the Bosch PowerMore range extender, and the rear set is for a waterbottle. A waterbottle can be placed in either set of holes, but the PowerMore could make contact with the shock if it is in the rear set of holes. For this reason the PowerMore should only be in the front set of holes.

If the Bosch Mini remote on the handlebar breaks from a crash or runs out of battery on a ride, the bike will still be fully functional. The bike can be switched on and off, and the ride mode can be changed with the TT system controller.

Q-factor will vary with crank manufacturer, but most will be 178 mm.

The max chainring size is 36, and the min is 32. The suspension is designed to work best with a 34 tooth chainring.

The Bullit is designed to fit coil shocks and large air can shocks like the Rockshox Vivid Air and the Fox X2 Air

No, it is not.

50% charge: approx. 1.7 hours, 100% charge: approx. 4.5 hours

No, Bullit is only and exclusively designed for the 600Wh battery. The 800Wh battery has a larger profile and is not compatible with Bullit.

The cable to connect the PowerMore is a Bosch spare part. The ideal length for Bullit, both aesthetically and functionally, is 200mm, but this is not currently in production. However, on the Bullit you can use from 250mm down to the minimum of 150mm for all bike sizes.
